Finding unsolved mysteries to be quite interesting, I therefore had to examine and study this title in question, i.e.,Encyclopedia of Strange and Unexplained Physical Phenomena by Jerome Clark. In here one will find out about lost dinosaurs, hair ape like creatures and other odd and mysterious items and unsolved mysteries. Recommended.

If you're into UFOs, physical anomalies, psychic powers, cryptoterrestrials, the reality of myth, the world's most inept hoaxes, or anything else that qualifies as weird, this is your book! Jerome Clark presents more information and research on most of the entries than any other source I've read, and he even has a bit about why some people are believers and some people are skeptics. Many of the entries are of such obscure occurences that even me, the paranormal buff, haven't heard of. Great for amateurs and pros of the field alike.

Regardless of whether you are interested in deep ecology, animal rights, envirnmental ethics,eco-feminism or political ecology, this excellently edited edition will have something of interest for you. Those who are looking for a more scientific approach to examing our relationship with nature, as oppossed to the more philosophical writings of Muir, Thoreau and Abbey, this book will be especially appreciated.
Published primarily for use in environmetal philosophy/science courses at the university level, this book is very useful in providing a well researched, diversen sampling from some of the most important theorists in the field. Essays by J. Baird Calicott, Tom Regan, author of the revolutionary work "The Case Animal Rights", Holmes Rolston III, author of the seminal text "Environmetal Ethics", the Norweigan philosopher Arne Naess and , the so-called founder of the deep Ecology movement, Aldo Leopold, author of the famous "Sand County Almanac", as well as works by other important scholars such as George Sessions, Warick Fox, the famous eco-feminist historian Carolyn Merchant, John Clark and Gary Snyder along with many others.
Although the essays contianed in this text can be challenging at times, in the end the payoff definitely makes it worth the effort. This difficulty is, at least, in part due to the fact that what this book requires is a new way of examining our relationship with nature and a willingness to examine problems from a more holistic perspective, which can sometimes be a hard thing for those taught that the world is here simply for man's exploitation (gender specificity intended). This volume is particularly effective in giving students a well-rounded introduction to many of the most important issues in environmental writing today. As the seriousness of our ecological problems persist and even worsen, this book will continue to be a highly informative source of information for students and instructors for years to come.

I'm convinced this is the best way to learn about Environmental Philosophy! While some sections are difficult and can bog you down, most are clear and well-written.

I'd recommend this book as both a teaching tool and as something you can pick up to learn on your own. It's more difficult than most pleasure reading but the subject is particurarily heavy.

This kind of education is essential to the environmentalist or someone trying to understand the movement.

This book is loaded with tips on how to achieve things most of us (especially those with personal studios in our bedrooms or basements) may not have thought of. Some of the stuff is pretty subtle, and trained and experienced ears are necessary to grasp the concepts and their execution/realization. But even the very advanced stuff whets the appetite, and sets you up to begin learning more, and pretty fast.

There are basically 24 chapters, covering all phases and aspects of studio recording and production - from tracking through mixing right up to and including mastering. The chapters are organized alphabetically (rather than chronologically).

Most of the interviews are pretty darn good, and are either useful, inspiring, or both. The interviewees are very knowledgeable and well spoken, and usually don't succumb too much to industry "jargonese". One of the neatest things is when they tell you what microphones are good for what, as well as what kind of compressors and consoles they prefer, and why. Much of the hardware discussed is somewhat out of the price range for the average home recordist; instead the book gives you a feel for what it would be like to take your project into a professional studio, rather than trying to do it all yourself.

One beef I have is the so-called Appendix 1 (hey, guys, there's only one appendix here!), which is almost 100 pages of album credits by the numerous interviewees. Then again, if you're searching for the perfect producer, engineer, etc. to record your act, and people of this caliber are what you want, this information could prove to be indispensable for the furtherance of your project.

Gordon H. Clark's "Faith And Saving Faith" is perhaps the best book written on the subject of the nature of saving faith. In this book Clark exposes just how ridiculous much popular thinking on faith is. The much used and abused distinction between "head faith" and "heart faith" is here demonstrated to be unscriptural, as Clark conclusively demonstrates that in Scripture there is no distinction between the heart and mind (see pages 67-77 under the heading "Charles Hodge"). Clark takes the classic theological understanding of faith as being divided into notitia (knowledge), assensus (assent) and fiducia (trust), and exposes it as the logical nonsense it is; since fiducia or trust is a synonym for faith, it therefore cannot be one of faiths components. I unreservedly recommend this book.

Unfortunately, reasoning and thinking skills of this quality are not to be found in contemporary pop authors. This book touches on many things, but foremost it is a linear logical critique of the ideas and doctrines of men in a historical context. Clark moves through history with a critical eye on faith and saving faith exposing the lack of logic and clear thinking on the part of specific individuals in regards to saving faiths definition. His position is one in which, to believe propositions (facts) about someone is to believe in them. There is no more to it than that. Thus, rendering the concept of easy believism empty and meaningless. Also, it's a sort of prophetic warning against the descent of popular christiandom into anti-intellectualism, which at this point is an established reality. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to enlarge their understanding of these issues.

Clark Carlton has written an excellent cathecism of Orthodox dogma. This book is well written, up to date and it covers some of the most essential elements of Orthodox teaching. I would recommend this as one of the first books anyone interested in Orthodoxy should read. It is also a great place for Orthodox Christians who simply want to familiarize themselves with the basics.

This book is one in a series by author Clark Carlton. It is an excellent intro to Orthodoxy for anyone Orthodox or otherwise. Mr. Carlton explains clearly and concisley what the trinity is and why its so important to Christians. The Fall of Mankind, Fervant Intercessors[p.123], What a (S)aint is and is not[p.124] The teachings of Christ[p.127] The Birth and Mission of the Church[p.153] Missions and Evangelism[p.161] Holy Baptim [p.179] The Seal of the Gift of the Holy Spirit[p.191] The Mystical Supper[p.203] And Much, Much more. The other books by Carlton are The Truth and The Faith which are companions and should also be available through Amazon.

Bobby Clark brings an insider's view to counter-terrorism measures and the immediate clear thinking, discipline, and cooperation it takes to deal with the "deliberate randomness" of terrorism. A great cover photo sets this stage, then Clark's organized chronology and style allow this tale to evolve from geographically diverse locations without confusion as to who's who. His illustration of the value of real, enduring trust and honor among his characters adds a personal dimension to a very satisfying book.

This book is an incredible read especially in these times of heightened security against terrorist threat. The plot seems at first to be the work of an average group of thuggish criminals, but as the story unfolds, we find that the hidden motives are much more terrifying in scale and consequence than we could ever imagine.

The author shows detailed knowledge of terrorist and counter-terrorist tactics. In a world of deception and violence, the path to a safe and peaceful outcome can only be found by the clear thinking and good judgment of Grissom and Bartlett.

This book seems to be one of the best choices of the text for an undergraduate course. It covers all topics that can be included in such course. It contains many exercises. Some of the exercises are routine, some others are more challenging. Also the price of the paperback edition is quite reasonable for a text for a semester course.
I should mention that there are some misprints in this text. Also, there are some gaps in the proof of the Brooks' theorem (pp. 194-196). So a new corrected printing is desirable.
